Waiting for the cyclone

The rare Brisbane cyclone has brought together community to manage the risks and help each other out. Today the cyclone slowed down off the coast, giving us an additional day to prepare for its effects. Neighbours helping each other with tips such as how to innovate sandbags from pillow cases, plastic bags sand and gravel. Hubbie and I went for a neighbourly walk ahead of the weather really starting.

Beginning the kokoda trail

The disease, discomfort, short and long term health outcomes for Australians who served in tropical conditions such as those in Papua New Guinea and in the Kokoda trail to fight back Japanese imperialism were some the costs of our freedom today. In those days there weren’t AB and recovery was often a long journey if at all. I’ll set off today to walk in my safe suburb, with affordable and effective healthcare and appreciate the life and opportunity my kids have.
