2025 March On Challenge

300km and over $1200 Raised

Having been on the road since 3am this morning, it was great to have some company for the last 4km to the finish line and the completion of my first March On Challenge. Thank you Fiona and thankyou to everyone who has sponsored/supported me in doing this challenge.

Day 31 : challenge completed

300km and over $1200 raised. An extremely important cause and one that I will support again.

Day 29- 280km completed

20km to go to complete 300. Just over 36 hrs (310am) until I leave Nowra Soldiers Memorial (aiming to return around 7am).

Day 28 - up early and walk in the rain

Weather is only going to get worse in next 24hrs so no excuses to get this done. Another 8km by the end of Sat (probably on a treadmill) sets me up to do 20km on Monday morning and finish on 300km!

Day 26

250km in the rear vision mirror…5 days to go!!

Day 22 : 20km walk

After a couple of quieter days (cars at mechanic) and my sons 16th birthday, got back into it this afternoon by doing the route I plan to do in the early hours of Mar 31.

Day 19 - walk to north nowra

200km completed, 11 days remain.

Day 17 - kokoda & back complete

Under 100km to go to reach 288 goal and Newcastle Utd won a major trophy for the first time in 70 years. A day to remember. To my mate Andy from Newcastle…thank you for your support and your service.

Day 16 20.23km (longest walk so far in challenge)

Kokoda and back in sight - 5km to go

Day 15

Up early and walked today because of hot weather forecast during the weekend. It was still quite warm so just under 8km by 430am and went back to bed.

Day 13 Not many people on the road at 230am

A really early start in practice for a 20km walk planned for the last day of the month. On the road just after 230am and walked 18km in just over 3hrs. Reached another milestone on my virtual Kokoda track.

Day 11 walk #2 werri beach

Jacob at training. Walked to and along Werri Beach. A nice rainbow and view then started to rain as I returned to Gerry Emery.

Day 11

Started at Nowra Fresh and did the Bomaderry loop the opposite way.An early start. All done before 6am.

10pm sunday night (9th) walk to 1230am

A little different and home in time to watch Chelsea play Leicester too.

Day 9 mt annan botanical gardens

Visiting family today with all intentions of having a day off but then I changed my mind.

Day 8 - Kokoda track completed

96km was originally my goal for the month. I now March on to try to complete 96km two more times by the end of the month. Thank you to those that have donated to this important cause.

Day 7 - treadmill northy gym

Just over 5km done. Already now to make my way to 96km (to be completed before 7am in the morning)

Day 7 - walk #2 bomo loop

Before school pickup, did this loop to get some more km done. Under 5km to go today which I’ll do on a treadmill in preparation for what will be a 14km walk tomorrow morning to get to 96km finishing at the Nowra Soldiers Memorial: start by 415am ending before 7am.

Day 7 - early starts are becoming a habit

At some stage today the plan is to do another 9-10km so as to be ready for the 14km walk to reach 96 tomorrow morning.

Day 6 - 11km completed before 530am

Up really early and on the road before 4am. Completing 11km today was the goal to get to the next checkpoint on my virtual Kakoda Trail.

Day 5: 50km reached

Up around 4am for the third day in a row. Next target: 100km in 10 days or less.

Day 4: 50km target in 5 days within reach

Early starts seems to be the go. Feels great when all done before 7am. Goals have been updated: $1000 and 192km.

Day 3 - 4am start 15km

May be reviewing my goals having completed 35km in 3 days. Walked past the high school, along the river, under the Nowra Bridges then over and back and just kept going.

Day 2: > 12km

Hit the road just before 6am and just kept going. Walked for over 2 hrs. Visited the memorial at the entrance to Nowra Showground and Walsh Memorial Park at Bomaderry.

Day 1

Up early and underway around 5am. 7.7km done. Roads very quiet at this time on Sat morning.

Support my challenge to prevent veteran suicide and save lives

Right now in Australia, at 42%, suicide is the leading cause of death for ex-serving males aged under 30 years old.

So, this March, I am walking to support Soldier On's mental health services and programs to help prevent veteran suicide and save lives.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my challenge so that we can show veterans and their families that they are not alone... we stand strong with them.

Together, let's help our heroes march on.

Thanks so much for your support.

So far, I have helped provide:

104
