The journey begins

Every journey begins with that first step. Taking that step can be easy or hard. So often in life we procrastinate and say “I will start it tomorrow”. But to hell with that. Every kilometer done now is one less to get done in the rest of March. Despite injuries that have plagued me for the last month, I have made the commitment so I am determined that I will get it done. Any pain I suffer is miniscule compared to what our veterans have suffered and still suffer today. The account has been opened with a walk around the area where I am staying for a wedding. It is a rural area in the Lockyer Valley where many began there journey into the First World War. My grandfather was one of those. He was one of the lucky ones. He returned home albeit with a leg injury which in time became gangrenous resulting in his leg being amputated. But lucky in that he only suffered physically and not mentally, living a productive life, marrying and having children and grandchildren. I am not expecting this to be an easy journey but here goes…..

Support my challenge to prevent veteran suicide and save lives

Right now in Australia, at 42%, suicide is the leading cause of death for ex-serving males aged under 30 years old.

So, this March, I am walking to support Soldier On's mental health services and programs to help prevent veteran suicide and save lives.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my challenge so that we can show veterans and their families that they are not alone... we stand strong with them.
