Why I am Fundraising

This March I have a goal to walk 96km with this goal I want to raise money for Soldier On Australia.

Growing up, I always had a connection with veterans. My 'Poppy' George Cornford, served in Korea in the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment. I always had a close bond with him. When I was younger, I remember frequently visiting him and fellow veterans at a unit block in Sydney for ill and elderly veterans.
I always cherished my time with the veterans, like playing tennis in the courtyard with Vietnam Veteran Michael. He, unfortunately, passed due to the long-term aftermath of war, which later on, as I became older it made me realise how important it was to talk with our ex-servicemen and women and keep their stories alive.
Through these experiences, I have seen the long-lasting health, social and emotional impacts that veterans and their families can encounter. Unfortunately, the support they need is not always there.
This is why supporting organisations like Soldier On is important as they deliver crucial holistic support services that enable current and former Australian Defence Force personnel, and their families to lead meaningful civilian lives.

Support my challenge to march on in March

Right now in Australia, at 42%, suicide is the leading cause of death for ex-serving males aged under 30 years old.

So, this March, I am walking to support Soldier On's mental health services and programs to help prevent veteran suicide and save lives.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my challenge so that we can show veterans and their families that they are not alone... we stand strong with them.
