Hello fellow reader,
As an advocate for improving mental health, I am deeply committed to supporting those who need it most. Soldier On's March On Challenge is an excellent way to raise awareness to veteran suicide rates and what is being done to support those who serve our country. This cause is also incredibly close to my heart because I have family and a partner in Defence. I see firsthand the unique challenges our veterans and their loved ones face, and I want to do everything I can to make a difference.
Right now in Australia, suicide is the leading cause of death for ex-serving males under 30, with a devastating rate of 42%. To help change this, I am taking on the challenge of running 100km this March to support Soldier On’s mental health services and programs. Better yet, if I reach my $1000 dollar goal before March 15th- I have committed to doubling the total running distance to 200km. These initiatives provide essential support to veterans and their families, helping to prevent suicide and save lives.
To aid in improving mental health, I volunteer as a Text and Chat Digital Crisis Supporter- offering a listening ear to people in their darkest moments. By day, I am a secondary PDHPE teacher, where I strive to foster resilience and well-being in young minds.
