2025 March On Challenge

Day 30

Having completed the challenge yesterday, I'm going to have some rest days.

Day 29

I'm back at the start, so I have finished the challenge, YAY!!!

Day 28

I needed an easy day after yesterday's massive effort. Still did 10k+ steps though.

Day 27

What a busy day!. Started with the Nepean river bridge to bridge walk first thing in the morning. The river looked spectacular early in the morning. Then the rest of the day as usual got me over 19k+ steps and a record of 13kms.

Day 26

Had a crazy day today and couldn't get many steps in. Hopefully, tomorrow is our team brekkie and bridge to bridge walk. that will get me back on track.

Day 25

Well I've just passed Menari and I can Ower's Corner. Not long till I finish another year.

Day 24

Another 10k+ day. the end is in sight.

Day 23

I woke up this morning in quite a bit of pain. I must have slept in a bad position as my right shoulder and ankle were killing me. So I just took it easy.

Day22

back to the grind with a 10k+ day.

Day 21

My legs have started feeling weary, so I had an easy day today.

Day 20

Another good day of walking with 13k plus steps.

Day 19

Had a lot on today, so I just scraped over 10k steps.

Day 18

So glad I've made up the time lost from the start of the month. At the pace I'm going I'll be finished the 192kms before the end of the month.

Day 17

Another good day and I reached Kokoda and have started the journey back to the start.

Day 16

It was too hot to go for a walk outside, so I did all my steps in the house. I came up with a circuit in the AC and clocked up 10k+.

Day 15

Had a busy day, but not too much walking. late in the night I realised I was 2.5k steps short of my daily goal. So I ended up doing circuits around the house.

Day 14

A quiet day today. I've managed to claw back all the lost km's from the start of the month and now I just need 10k+ steps to reach the goal.

Day 13

Having so much fun walking and making up for the lost time while I had COVID.

Day 12

Another good day of catching up, 13k steps. I'm definitely over COVID.

Day 11

Another great day walking and spreading the good word about this cause. I was telling my podiatrist about the time I almost became a veteran suicide statistic. As a result, I got invited to a function as a guest speaker, to talk about my experience. I find talking about my attempt, is very uplifting and relieving. It also will help those who are thinking about suicide know they can get help.

Day 10

Another good day steps wise. Hopefully this extra effort will help me catch up on the steps I lost due to COVID.

Day 9

Needed to have a bit of rest today.

Day 8

Really good day step wise. did over 12,000.

Day 7

Well I'm back on track, so now it's catch up time. I need to work hard to make up for the lack of activity due to COVID-19. I am confident I'll reach my goal, this cause is too important not to reach the goal.

Day 6

After getting sick with COVID-19 on day one, my steps have not been where I want them to be. But as I'm over the worse of it now, back to the grind. I managed at least 4 km today and will push for more tomorrow.

Day 1

Woke up feeling crook with the flu, so I couldn't put in the effort I wanted.

Support my challenge to prevent veteran suicide and save lives

Right now in Australia, at 42%, suicide is the leading cause of death for ex-serving males aged under 30 years old.

So, this March, I am walking to support Soldier On's mental health services and programs to help prevent veteran suicide and save lives.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my challenge so that we can show veterans and their families that they are not alone... we stand strong with them.

Together, let's help our heroes march on.

Thanks so much for your support.

So far, I have helped provide:

119

peer support
sessions

71

employment
support

6

psychology
sessions

...to support the mental health of our brave veterans to help them march on.

My Kokoda Track Journey

My Legacy

My Impact over 3 years

My Tribute Post

All those veterans that are in a dark place right now, please get help. Seven years ago I was in that dark place and almost became a veteran suicide statistic. Thankfully my wife stopped and I got help. I was able to get out of the dark pit and you can too. Just think of your loved ones and get the help you need. Soldier On is here to help so it would be a great place to start.
