Don was my best friend not long after we met in 1985 at our recruit course any way after we discharged don had to move back to the USA as his father passed away and run his earthmoving business we spoke on the phone 5 or 6 times a week my three daughters called him uncle and used to speak to him regularly as well but Tuesday night he called and it was a funny conversation and at the end of the call don said can your daughters call me uncle I said thay have been since thay where old enough to talk don said that’s nice mate I’ll catch you later me not thinking anything of it untill I receive a phone call 2 days dater that don had taken his own life I can’t explain how I felt but it stuffed me up for many years and still plays on my mind what could I have done to stop it but I still have know answers anyway ladies and gents this is my first year doing this and I hope I can make a little different to help another brother or sister cheers.Walking while i’m at work
Support my challenge to prevent veteran suicide and save lives
Right now in Australia, at 42%, suicide is the leading cause of death for ex-serving males aged under 30 years old.
So, this March, I am walking to support Soldier On's mental health services and programs to help prevent veteran suicide and save lives.
It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my challenge so that we can show veterans and their families that they are not alone... we stand strong with them.
