2025 March On Challenge

Day 17 of March On 2025

Start of the month is always good; I was hitting PBs for distance walked and motivation was high (despite the heat, or needing to arrange a balance in timings)

Mid month is that wonderful nadir, where motivation slows, the aches are felt a bit more, and life intrudes.

The wonderfulness of the walks is that it allows a bit more introspection;  the what ifs creep in, and the memories of times past come to the fore.

I'm happy to report I'm relatively ok; yeah I struggle like the rest of folk, but overall, its ok.

I miss being able to walk without aches, and to do so at a speed which may as well be a quick march.  But, I also acknowledge that I live a fairly sedentary life, spend most of my day behind a desk, and am no longer in my 20s and in the service.

To be fair, I don't really count myself in the same category as other ex-service folk.  They've done more hard miles than I ever did, and life took me elsewhere (none of which I regret, nor would I really change it if I could)

Still, I'd like to thank all those who served, be it for a day or a lifetime; you're doing what most folk can't or won't do.

Thank you.  I'll march on for those of you who can no longer do so.

Support my challenge to prevent veteran suicide and save lives

Right now in Australia, at 42%, suicide is the leading cause of death for ex-serving males aged under 30 years old.

So, this March, I am walking to support Soldier On's mental health services and programs to help prevent veteran suicide and save lives.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my challenge so that we can show veterans and their families that they are not alone... we stand strong with them.

Together, let's help our heroes march on.

Thanks so much for your support.

So far, I have helped provide:
