2026 March On Challenge

Day 31

March On draws to a close, but the endless quest for km continues with me, as it has for about 2 years now. Finishing with 260km and nearly $1800 raised, the month was a huge success.

Day 30

Rest day to prep for a house inspection.

Day 29

A quick 7km this afternoon, taking me to 247km. And the Great Pyramid of Marcoola Beach.

Day 28

14km today, discovering new tracks around Pt. Arkwright that I never knew existed. 240km logged.

Day 27

Back at it again with a quick 5km this evening. Pallet to the foot pain only hung around for a day or 2. Hamstring seems ok. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Day 26

9km added today, despite niggling foot / leg issues. 5 days left to go.

Day 25

Rest day with a foot injury.

Day 24

Back at it, with 6km added today. The hamstring strain is making it a bit hard to add a lot of km, so it may be a slightly subdued end of month now that I got my 192km.

Day 23

Rest day today, with hamstring carrying on.

Day 22

Beach Ziggy Zaggy day. Created a 14.32km GPS chain between Marcoola and Mudjimba. Up and down every beach access route. This leaves me 1km from my 192km Kokoda return goal.

Day 21

Today got me to within 15km of my goal of 192km. I banked 15km over 3 walks and dodged a storm. I got past Menari on the way back.

Day 20

9km done today, putting me at about 162km travelled for March On. A wet outlook for the weekend, so it was good to bank these km this arvo.

Day 19

5km this evening. I took to the path from Marcoola to Mount Coolum. That'll put me over the 150km mark. NGL, full days of warehousing, followed by Marching On for the vets, beats you up a bit.

Day 18

Day 18 - Just over 9.5km today, which will get me to about 148km. Within 44km of the goal now. Over $1600 raised. 13 days left and it's been a great experience.

Day 17

Another short night walk this evening. 4km to the total. Resting legs while still hitting my minimum.

Day 16

A recovery day today, after yesterdays onslaught. 4km night walk to the shop and back. Even that wasn't particularly easy on the legs.

Day 15

Today was the long and slow. 16km walk from Marcoola to Twin Waters and back, met David Keir, another marcher and smashed my distance record for the month.

Day 14

6km today. 2km on the treadmill, 4km on the beach. 2 weeks in. Tomorrow pretty much marks the halfway mark. My daily average needed is down to 4.77.

Day 13

Rain and beach foam dodging today, for another 5km. Weather is looking bleak again. Spotted the new Marcoola SLSC tower for the first time. I want to bank some good km this weekend, weather permitting.

Day 12

What started as a stroll up Sunshine Beach, ended up as a walk up the hill to look up Alexandria Beach. Tough on the legs. Another 5km banked.

Day 11

96km reached today and the halfway point of my March On journey. It took 11 days. Niw for the trek back.

Day 10

An 8km beach walk this arv, which was not easy on the stiff hips, but in the kitty nonetheless. This will get me to within 4km of Kokoda on the map. Staying ahead of the minimum, but the weather and injuries are taking their toll.

Day 9

Rest day today, as the treadmill did a number on my hips. Hopefully the weather will clear up tomorrow, for a return to the beach.

Day 8

5km on the treadmill today, because of the rain. Eager to get back outside and run.

Day 7

Got drenched and added 11km to the total. Eager to get back on the beach and run. Come on weather Gods, come to the party.

Day 6

A leisurely 7km. Alex Heads to Mooloolaba Spit return. Took in the HMAS Brisbane, Korea and Dog memorials.

Day 5

Started with a visit to the Cotton Tree Memorial and finished with 6.5km in the kitty. Cotton Tree to Alex Heads.

Day 4

10km is in the vault. 90 minute slog. Marcoola to Point Arkwright and back. Yeahhhh. Let's goooooo!!!

Day 3

Mudjimba to Pincushion Island today. The mouth of the Maroochy. 8km round trip. Soft sand too, so the pegs are feelin' it. Mt. Coolum to Point Arkwright tomorrow, weather permitting.

Day 2

Another 7km added to the kitty along Marcoola Beach. Weather permitting, I might go north or south tomorrow, to Pt. Arkwright or the mouth of the Maroochy.

Day 1

A dampish kind of start to March, so I stuck to the path and gave Marcoola Beach a miss. Scraped in with my daily minimum required distance, but there'll be much bigger days coming up and I may go for a jog this evening yet. I also hit my funding goal today on DAY 1! March On legends!

Marching on tomorrow

March On is here! Today I did my final test run before the big month. 8km along the beach at Bokarina QLD. Tomorrow marks Day 1 of my 192km commitment to assistance in prevention of veteran suicide. Of the $1045 funding goal, I have so far raised $955, due largely to one awesome donor who pledged over $500. Let's go out and get this. See you on the March!!

Support my challenge to prevent veteran suicide and save lives

Right now in Australia, at 42%, suicide is the leading cause of death for ex-serving males aged under 30 years old.

So, this March, I am walking to support Soldier On's mental health services and programs to help prevent veteran suicide and save lives.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my challenge so that we can show veterans and their families that they are not alone... we stand strong with them.

Together, let's help our heroes march on.

Thanks so much for your support.

So far, I have helped provide:

94

peer support
sessions

89

5

...to support the mental health of our brave veterans to help them march on.
