2026 March On Challenge

Day five!

Day five done, although a little different to the other days. Crush and I needed to be in Bathurst to complete our final Public Access Test, the last step for him to finish his national accreditation as a Guide, Hearing and Assistance Dog. It was a busy day under test conditions, spending around six hours working through a variety of real-world scenarios as part of the assessment. While we didn’t complete the usual 6–7km in a single hour session like my normal daily goal toward the 192km for March, we were still on our feet most of the day. By the end of the assessment, we had actually covered 9.54km all up. Crush was quite happy (Picture) to be in the car for the trip home. Importantly by the end of it, we passed with flying colours. While waiting in the carpark to begin the assessment, we were also greeted by a slithering brown snake, a reminder that you never quite know what the day will throw at you. 🐍 Every kilometre this month is about raising awareness that mental health struggles can affect anyone, whether in the Defence community, policing, or the broader community. One step at a time. 🐾 Thank you again to everyone supporting the challenge. Donations are still open if you’d like to support the cause. And as always, a huge thanks to my biggest supporter through my own journey, my wife Mel ❤️.

Day Four!

Day four of the March On Challenge complete. Today Crush and I took the walk to a pretty iconic location, a lap around the Bathurst racing circuit. We covered 6.2km around the track, plus a few extra metres back to the hotel, bringing today’s total to 7.1km. It was sunny but very humid (81%), which definitely made the hills feel a little steeper than usual ☀️💦 Crush needed a quick rest at the top, which I was more than happy to give him. I was hurting a bit too, but still had enough left in the tank to keep going. 🐾 Anyone who is a racing fan really needs to come here when a race isn’t on and walk the track. You get a completely different appreciation for the circuit when you feel the changes in gradient and elevation under your feet. We’re actually in Bathurst for an important reason, tomorrow Crush and I complete our final Public Access Test to hopefully get off our L-plates. A big step in the journey for both of us. Every kilometre this month is about raising awareness that mental health struggles can affect anyone, whether in the Defence community, policing, or the broader community. One step at a time. Thank you again to everyone supporting the challenge. Donations are still open if you’d like to support the cause. Also please share amongst your own family, friends and work colleagues. https://www.marchonchallenge.org.au/fundraisers/peterdavis And as always, a huge thanks to my biggest supporter through this journey, my wife Mel ❤️

Day three!

Day three done and dusted. With the inclement weather around 🌧️🌧️, it was a lot like ground hog day. Crush and I had to seek out an alternative yet again to keep chipping away at the 192km goal for the month. Not wanting a drenched pooch and the smell this brings through the house wasn’t a great option, so it was another episode of a good podcast and chipped 6.8km of the goal in one hour on the treadmill. Crush did it hard again, but he was at least with me in support. 🐾💤 Fingers crossed for some better weather tomorrow and a chnage of scenery. Day two!

Day two done and dusted. With the inclement weather around 🌧️🌧️, Crush and I had to seek out an alternative option today to keep chipping away at the 192km goal for the month. As clean as he is, the smell of wet dog through the house wasn’t a great option, so it was a good podcast and 6.5km in one hour on the treadmill instead. Crush looked in much better shape than I did at the end of today’s leg (see picture). No prizes for guessing why… 🐾💤 slept on his mat. Every kilometre this month is about raising awareness that mental health struggles can affect anyone, whether in the Defence community, policing, or the broader community. One step at a time. 🐾 Thank you again to everyone supporting the challenge. Day one!

Today Crush and I kicked off my March On challenge, aiming to complete 192km this month at an average pace of 6km/h. We started at the Australian War Memorial, walked down ANZAC Parade, and completed a Canberra favourite, the bridge-to-bridge loop around Lake Burley Griffin. We finished at the National Police Memorial, a reminder that both my green Defence family and blue Police family face many of the same mental health battles. But the reality is mental illness does not discriminate, it will impact everyone at some point, either directly or indirectly. Day 1 total: 6.5km ✅ Crush and I have earned a well-deserved rest 🐾 If you can, please consider supporting the cause by donating. Every bit helps. And most importantly, thank you to everyone supporting me, especially my biggest supporter through my own multi-year journey, my wife Mel ❤️

Support my challenge to prevent veteran suicide and save lives

Right now in Australia, at 42%, suicide is the leading cause of death for ex-serving males aged under 30 years old.

So, this March, I am walking to support Soldier On's mental health services and programs to help prevent veteran suicide and save lives.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my challenge so that we can show veterans and their families that they are not alone... we stand strong with them.

Together, let's help our heroes march on.

Thanks so much for your support.

So far, I have helped provide:

151
