2026 March On Challenge

Day 10 Update

I have now completed my first (of three) trips to Kokoda having passed Eora Creek on Friday.

Eora Creek village was the site of a rearguard position between 31 August and 1 September during the retreat of Australian forces along the Kokoda Trail, occupied in succession by the 39th, 2/14th and 2/16th Battalions. During the Australian advance back along the track, Eora Creek was the scene of bitter fighting when the 16th Brigade sought to overcome a strong Japanese defensive position established on heights that dominated the village and creek crossing.

Day 5 update!

So far I've now surpassed the first milestone of Menari in my Soldier On Australia March On Challenge
Menari was the site of the well-known photograph of the 39th Battalion on parade being addressed by Lieutenant Colonel Honner after it had withdrawn along the Track. The famous war photographer, Damien Parer, filmed the parade..
Thank you all for the support so far

Support my challenge to prevent veteran suicide and save lives

Right now in Australia, at 42%, suicide is the leading cause of death for ex-serving males aged under 30 years old.

So, this March, I am walking to support Soldier On's mental health services and programs to help prevent veteran suicide and save lives.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my challenge so that we can show veterans and their families that they are not alone... we stand strong with them.

Together, let's help our heroes march on.

Thanks so much for your support.

So far, I have helped provide:

58

I Was Only Doing My Job: Australia's Military History shares the stories of service, sacrifice, and legacy of Australians in uniform for over two centuries. Too many of these stories are cut short, and we’re raising funds to help. They bear the burden of defending this country—it’s the least we can do to support them when they return home.
