Light for Lily ✨
Hey all,
As you may be aware, earlier this year, my world shattered when life got too much for my beautiful sister Lily, and she lost her battle with her mental health.
Lily was vivacious, fierce, brave, funny, generous, smart, stubborn and determined. She was a proud plant mum, loved her tkmaxx trips, her op shop and depop finds, her temu bargains and was one of the most creative people I knew.
She was also a serving member of the Royal Australian Air Force where she completed many qualifications, courses, trips out field, a stint overseas and worked so hard to become a qualified paramedic.
Therefore this March, I will be walking 96km’s (the length of the Kokoda trail) in Lily’s honour to help raise awareness around suicide in Australian veterans and hopefully help someone else who finds themselves in Lily’s shoes, fight their own battle.
Right now, veterans aged between 25 - 44 are 2.7 times more at risk of suicide than other members of our community. My sister will forever be 28.
I’d really like to share some Light for Lily and highlight for anyone struggling, that no matter how alone you may feel, you are never alone. You are loved, you are worthy and you deserve a life full for joy, despite what your mind may be telling you otherwise.
