it’s almost time
I’m looking forward to taking part in March for March this year and putting some real kilometres behind a cause that matters. For me, it’s about more than just the physical challenge. It’s about showing support for veterans and their families, and recognising that the journey doesn’t end when service does. The strength, resilience, and sacrifice shown by those who have served deserve ongoing respect and backing from the wider community. Throughout March, I’ll be committing to consistent movement and doing my part to stand behind the veteran community in a practical way. Every step is a reminder that support doesn’t have to be loud , it just has to be consistent. Right now in Australia, at 42%, suicide is the leading cause of death for ex-serving males aged under 30 years old.
So, this March, I am walking to support Soldier On's mental health services and programs to help prevent veteran suicide and save lives.

I am walking for my great-great-grandfather, Ernest Roy Dorey, No. 3807, 17th Infantry Battalion AIF. He came home scarred, and carried his war for the rest of his life. I walk for him, and for every serviceman and woman who gave more than we will ever truly know. Lest we forget
