Hello from Cairns, QLD.

March On. Day 1 Behana Gorge Cairns Qld 

This is some of the Cairns Team 2Dads 
We kicked off with a 7km walk and cool swim in the tropical heat 😊😊

Still time to join our team. Set your own distance and fundraising goal.

We would love to have you aboard . We have members from all over Australia and even New Zealand! True ANZAC spirit. 

We are fundraising all month - in memory of Lochie Cross and in support of all of our veterans and their families. All our service members.

January 27th will be one year since Lochie suicided. 

I started participating in Soldier On’s March On campaign 5 years ago. And I will do it again in 2026. My participation was originally a personal thing. A chance to thank our defence members for their sacrifices, a way of raising money and support for the mental health challenges they faced. A chance to stay fit.

It has now become more.

Lochie joined me on one of the challenges - we made a cute team of 2. He was also a supporter of people that faced mental health challenges- I believe now he knew first hand how dark and lonely it felt. 

One thing I have learnt this last year is that people need to feel like they belong. Like they are not a burden. Like they matter. 
I mostly want people to feel like they don’t have to do the hard stuff alone. 

Last March was the darkest time of my life. But I wasn’t alone, family, friends and Lochie’s forever work family joined our team and it grew from 2 people to 32. 

That support gave me strength. Thank you. 🙏 I can never bring Lochie back. I can never tell him that he did matter. That he was loved. That I wished he had stayed. That the moment that he felt it was all too hard was just one small moment and that would have passed. 

I don’t get to do that. But I guess if I can raise awareness and money someone else may get to hear these things, and make a choice to stay.
