2026 March On Challenge

Halfway There: 97km Down, Reaching Kokoda, and Why I Walk

Well, I’ve officially hit a massive milestone: 97km! That means in our virtual journey, I have reached Kokoda. Now, I’m turning around and making the long trek back to Owers' Corner to complete the full 192km challenge.

I recorded a video tonight while out pounding the pavement, putting one foot in front of the other in the dark to knock out those final kilometers for the day. While I was walking, I got to thinking about the real reason behind all of these steps. When you’re out there for hours, people might wonder, “Why do this? Why walk 192 kilometers?”

The truth is, it’s not just about the physical challenge. I’m doing this because I’ve lost friends to PTSD—especially military friends. Good blokes.

Our country sends these men and women away to protect us. They put their lives on the line, face people who are willing to hurt us, and do everything that is asked of them. But the heartbreaking reality is that many of them come back with unseen scars. And tragically, they don't always get the support they need when they return.

Sometimes, it takes years, but eventually, the weight of those unseen scars becomes too much. I've seen firsthand how these good mates end up taking their own lives.

When that happens, it’s a devastating ripple effect. It’s a loss to our country, a loss to their families, a loss to their children—both young and old—and a profound loss to their friends. Suicide doesn't distinguish; it leaves a hole in everyone's lives.

Many of our military personnel are incredibly brave, honest, and proud people. But sometimes, that same pride makes it hard for them to reach out and ask for help when they are struggling on the inside. On the outside, they might even look happy, but underneath, it's just too much.

That is my "why."

I am walking these 192 kilometers to raise vital funds for PTSD support. I want to help these guys and girls who have come back and are fighting a war within themselves. But equally importantly, I am walking to raise awareness. We need to make it okay to reach out, and we need to ensure the right support is there when they do.

I’m heading home to rest up tonight, but tomorrow we start the journey back.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far. If you haven't yet, please consider sponsoring my 192km march. Let's help make sure our veterans get the support they deserve.

Support my challenge to prevent veteran suicide and save lives

Right now in Australia, at 42%, suicide is the leading cause of death for ex-serving males aged under 30 years old.

So, this March, I am walking to support Soldier On's mental health services and programs to help prevent veteran suicide and save lives.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my challenge so that we can show veterans and their families that they are not alone... we stand strong with them.

Together, let's help our heroes march on.

Thanks so much for your support.

So far, I have helped provide:

133

peer support
sessions

126

7

sessions

...to support the mental health of our brave veterans to help them march on.
